About AIAA

The nonprofit American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is the principal international professional society and voice serving the aerospace profession. With nearly 30,000 individual members from 91 countries, and 95 corporate members, AIAA is the world’s largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. Created in 1963 by the merger of the two great aerospace societies of the day, the American Rocket Society (founded in 1930 as the American Interplanetary Society), and the Institute of the Aerospace Sciences (established in 1933 as the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences), AIAA carries forth a proud tradition of more than 80 years of aerospace leadership. AIAA is the U.S. representative on the International Astronautical Federation and the International Council on the Aeronautical Sciences. Registered AIAA members receive daily news briefings, a monthly magazine (Aerospace America), access to online technical resources and research papers, and discounts to leading aerospace conferences.

About AIAA-Atlanta

AIAA-Atlanta is AIAA’s local Section serving metro-Atlanta and all of north Georgia. Our membership includes approximately 600 professionals from Lockheed Martin, GTRI, Delta, SpaceWorks, Area-I and other leading aviation and space organizations in north Georgia. We also count a number of faculty and teachers from Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State and other local educational organizations as professional members of our Section. AIAA-Atlanta as serves as the professional Section partner for AIAA Student Sections at both Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University, and the University of Georgia.
AIAA-Atlanta meets monthly between August and June, usually for dinner meetings. We host nationally-known speakers as well as local speakers from across our region. We often hold social, outreach and service events as well. AIAA-Atlanta provides a great opportunity to make connections, meet others in your field, find our more about our industry and projects. You do not have to be an aerospace professional to join our group or to attend any of our dinner meetings or events. Come join us!
AIAA Atlanta Section members can access additional resources in our Section’s Community on AIAA Engage.
